A conversation with Dhruva and Naren

Scene 1

characters: Dhruva,Naren,friends,snake and narrator

First scene: Under a banyan tree or peepal tree. Do the mime of Naren meditating. Snake comes, children shout.

Slowly take the camera higher and zoom out as if seeing from the sky.

Then show Dhruva inside a star looking at Naren. Dhruva as a star goes to see Naren.

He chants Om namo bhagavate vasudevaya. Slowly Naren opens his eyes by listening to the wonderful chanting, Naren’s friends also started coming.

They all look at the child who has the glow of a star around him.

Naren: Brother, who are you.

Friend 1: You have such a peaceful glow around you.

Friend 2: Where have you come from?

Friend 3: How did you find us?

Dhruva: Sisters and brothers, I am Dhruva. I was looking at all of you from the sky. I was watching your meditation game. And I came down to talk to Naren.

All the friends look in astonishment at Dhruva.

They ask together: Are you the Dhruva from the Dhruva nakshatram?

Dhruva, smiling: Yes, I am.

Dhruva to Naren: Brother Naren, when the snake came and your friends were calling you, you did not open your eyes. What were you doing?

Naren: O Brother Dhruva, I did not hear anything.

Friend 1 in surprise: How is that possible? We called so loudly.

Naren: I did not hear anything. My mind was concentrated within me. I was experiencing great joy.

When your mind is in the highest state, you are unconscious of the rush of the outside world.

Dhruva: Yes, it appeared that way to me. So I came down to see you. I haven’t seen a child absorbed in meditation in a very long time.

Friend 2: Naren, we did not realise you were absorbed in meditation. We thought you were playing with us.

Friend 3: Dhruva, we know your story. Our parents and grandparents have told us while pointing to the Dhruva nakshatram.

Dhruva, smiling: What have they told you?

Friend 1: When you were a young child just 5 years old, you went to see your father, the King. Story in short

Dhruva: Yes, this happened.

Scene 2

characters: Dhruva,Naren,friends and narrator

F1: You meditated on God just to sit on your father’s lap, but why you did not ask that gift as soon as God appears before you?

D:Yes. I thought it would be great for me to sit in my father’s lap until meditation. But meditation can help us to realize what true and unchanging happiness is. Everything else will disappear after this.
he greatest thing is meditation. In meditation we divest ourselves of all material conditions and feel our divine nature.
F2: Then, watching TV, playing on the phone, teasing others, defaming others, and showing off will not give happiness?
N: Those will give only temporary happiness. But meditation is the gate that opens us unchanging infinite joy.
There is the infinite joy, unchanging. Meditation is the gate that opens that to us.
F3: oh is it? We are eager to have that happy experience within us. Can you please tell us How to Meditate?

Think of a space in your heart, and in the midst of that space think that a flame is burning. Think of that flame as your own soul and inside the flame is another effulgent light, and that is the soul of your soul, God. Meditate upon that in the heart.

F1: I tried too but I could not concentrate? The foot refuses to sit in meditation for a while. The mind goes somewhere thinking of things happened and things to be happen, then how to concentrate?
D: When you do a favourite activity of yours, you forget about the distractions and act with utmost concentration. That is the first step to meditation. Do everything with care and full attention, and it will give you the completeness and also training for concentration.

(A clipping to compare with high concentration and nil concentration)

F2: If we can reach Divine through meditation, then why do we do prayers and ceremonials? Are they really needed?
N: explanation
Prayers, ceremonials and all the other forms of worship are simply kindergartens of meditation.
F1: We understand that meditation has many benefits for us. But does meditation benefit others?
D: No one will be disturbed by you at that time. And Everyone will be happy. That is the great thing. Isn’t it?
(Everyone is laughing)
F3: You did penance in the dense forest. Many sages meditate in the cave. Will Meditation happen only if there is a cave or forest?
D: No. The fish market can also be meditated if you learn to concentrate. If the mind is concentrated, all the places will become cave.

In meditation we divest ourselves of all material conditions and feel our divine nature. We do not depend upon any external help in meditation.N: we have enormous power within us. We can do anything and everything. But see my dear sisters and brothers how we are wasting our power by talking unnecessarily.
(Clipping – wasting energy in talking.)
Do not spend your energy in talking but meditate in silence; and do not let the rush of the outside world disturb you. When your mind is in the highest state, you are unconscious of it. Accumulate power in silence and become a dynamo of spirituality.

Chant: mano buthiya…
